Free Knowledge

BOOKS!  I love them, not just reading the words, but holding and touching special books, or smelling the pages of some books bring me sweet memories.  Just looking at an old Child Craft book from my parents home can transport me back to my early years.

This is one of the old Child Craft books
I got to bring home after my parents moved from their home when my mom became ill.
I treasure these books and those memories and stories shared with my mom and all my siblings.

Time creeps by when you are young and then it flys by...

Troops home by Christmas!

Apparently lots of people saw us on Channel 3 evening News.  Obama had just announced all Iraqi troops would be home for Christmas then Steve and I were interviewed about the significance of this in our lives and Dustin's.  It was fun and nerve -wracking to do it but worth the effort.
I truly hope he will be home for Christmas, maybe before, in time to see the new baby his sister will be having:)  I have the video here:

My prayers and thoughts are with all the families who have loved ones there ~ I do worry about their safety when everyone knows the exit date.

I pray for all service men and women throughout the world who are away from loved ones and especially those in harm's way.

Dustin was delighted to see his niece before deploying to Iraq.  He enjoyed hanging out at home as well as great Memphis barbeque, movies, golf, friends, food, working out and the Cracker Barrel!

Here goes,.. I am FINALLY posting on my blog and hoping to write whenever possible, about my life- family, children, faith, friends, home, decor, travels, dreams, anything that inspires me. Now this won’t be too difficult- I am passionate about many issues and very animated in my responses WHICH invariably prompts my mouth BEFORE my brain engages - HAH!!

But now I can "speak" as I wish… within some reason, on this happy, new blog.

For now, I’m just winging it and
praying as I go, ALWAYS !

(BTW, I collect scriptures, quotes, poetry, etc… I will share one now)

The Meaning of "Winging It"
To do something with in an impromptu manner, improvising, with little preparation.
 Origin
Authors have long used 'wing' as a verb and referred to birds that 'winged their way' and later, metaphorically, to time, love etc 'winging its way' to a recipient. That's not the 'winging it' we are concerned with here though, which has nothing to do with wings with feathers. This expression might also be thought to be derived from 'on a wing and a prayer', which alludes to aircraft that return to base more in hope than expectation. That's not the origin either and, if anything, the derivation is the other way about. 'Winging it' is a theatrical expression which refers to impromptu performances that given by actors who had hurriedly learned their lines while waiting in the wings and then received prompts from there.
This phrase dates from the late 19th century and the verb 'to wing' was defined in an 1885 edition of Stage magazine:
Go Air Force!
"'To wing'... indicates the capacity to play a rĂ´le without knowing the text, and the word itself came into use from the fact that the artiste frequently received the assistance of a special prompter, who... stood... screened..by a piece of the scenery or a wing."
The phrase 'winging it' is used in print explicitly in 1933, although it must have been well-established before then, in a book that could hardly be better equipped to explain the meaning, Philip Godfrey's Back-stage: a survey of the contemporary English theatre from behind the scenes:
"He must give a performance by 'winging it' - that is, by refreshing his memory for each scene in the wings before he goes on to play it."
